Hectic week?
Wanna relax but have some chores ?
Let’s make it interesting then,
First, let’s get you some reinforcements
- A chilled Pitcher of your choice filled to the brim. It should last min. 10 glasses. (Yeah that’s true get a big Jug; good thinking)
- A combo of finger-food snacks. I would recommend – Cold salad with wafers, Cucumber chaat, Corn Chaat, etc.
Now, add Modern Love Mumbai to binge-watch to this mix and let’s begin!
Why?
It’s a feel-good romedy, with a soothing song collection, told so beautifully. There’s beauty in simplicity.
It’s calm and will leave you feeling light. It’s everything you’d want to watch over a weekend while not missing out on your chores.
It brings out a mix-blend of culture we know breathes within Mumbai, the city of Dreams or what Saiba (played by Masaba) says, “Patani yaar, But this city gives me hope”.
Poster worthy moments :
- Laali’s celebration on the flyover. It somehow instils a feeling of joy and innocence. An exceptional performance by Fatima Sana Shaikh.
- Sui’s (played by Yeo Yann Yann) anger and conversation with Pappi ji (Naseeruddin Shah).
- Danny’s (Arshad Warsi) moments remembered by Latika (Chitrangda singh) in which it shows his flaw of punctuality never hampers his ability to come through everytime, no matter what. It’s a heart-melting glimpse.
Also, their last dialogue in the end when he replies to Latika’s wish for a window for a view and inspiration, to which he says – ‘Absolutely. You know that building across the street? ….I’ll raze it down. For the view!….. What are you doing on Sunday?’
– ‘nothing’.
‘Good, I’m free as well. Let’s break it down together’.
I’d recommend 2 episodes as must watch :
Ep. 3 – Mumbai Dragon, and Ep. 6 – Cutting Chai.
Both have 2 lovely characters Sui & Danny enacted so effortlessly by 2 gems, one newfound (for me) – Yeo Yann Yann, and the other – Arshad Warsi, whose presence on screen once again reminded me of how much I missed his natural dialogue delivery and comic timing.
The series is a touch & go on various topics, maintaining the light-hearted tone, as it should be. It should be this smooth and clear, bereft of toxicity, active/passive behaviour and uncalled for misunderstandings leading to ego battles.
Hope you feel relaxed.
(P.S. Somehow writing this line, Chandler creeps up in mind saying, ‘Honey, it’s 2:00 on a Wednesday and I’m watching Road Rules, how stressed do you think I am?’)
Once again protary of character in web drama as real is nice. If 10% people get inspired by your opinion than really service you are giving to mankind is God’s wish.
